"Appalling service from Eye clinic"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

My father was referred to the eye clinic on the 20th May 2015 by his GP for an 'urgent' appointment .

His first appointment was should have been on the 20/06/15. This was cancelled on the morning of the appointment as the consultant was taken sick. A revised appointment was later given for the 13/08/15. The appointment was supposed to be at 6pm. It was cancelled by telephone at 4.15pm that day as the consultant 'didn't want to work late'. I just hope that he never needs an urgent appointment. So 11 weeks later and my father is still waiting.

Dear Anonymous,

The cancellations your father has had are not acceptable, were very late and clearly do not inspire confidence. We know that the Eye Unit is experiencing significant shortages of key staff, but that is not a reason for these kinds of experiences.

Please call the Patient Experience team on 01279 82 70 84 between 9.00am and 5.00pm on any weekday and we will endeavour to resolve this for you with a firm offer of an appointment.
