"Fantastic in every department"

About: Warwick Hospital

My 82 year old mother experienced a fall in May 2015 and broke her wrist quite badly.

She was taken to Warwick A&E, admitted for an operation to place a plate in her wrist, then kept in for several days. Since then she has been to the Fracture Clinic several times, as well as Occupational Therapy. Although I personally had a particularly poor experience at Warwick, several years ago , I have been completely amazed by the incredible way that mum's condition has been handled.

I would like to thank and commend absolutely everyone with whom she has been in contact, and there have been many.

The fabulous caring paramedics who picked mum up from her fall and brought her to A&E were so kind and caring, making sure they removed her treasured rings before her hand swelled too much and then ensuring that they were passed to me.

Once in A&E, everyone was fantastic, explaining clearly without patronising, what was being done.

Mum was in so much pain but she was treated so carefully.

Then on Willloughby and later Beaumont wards, nothing was too much trouble.

Her operation was delayed due to Bank Holiday and more pressing emergencies, but we were always kept informed.

The Fracture Clinic staff, nurses and doctors have all again been careful, kind and respectful.

And now mum is being seen for hour long, twice weekly occupational therapy sessions to get her hand back to normal as soon as possible.

She has unfortunately been diagnosed with a complication that requires early diagnosis and intense therapy to ensure that her movement and pain levels return to normal - I understand that this is not particularly common, but again the care and attention to detail that she has received has enabled this to be diagnosed and an action plan put into place.

Several years ago I was an inpatient here for a few days and I was stunned by the poor attitude and behaviour of many of the staff I came into contact with.

This time, everything seems to be almost the opposite.

Mum and I thank absolutely everybody we have met from the bottom of our hearts.

If everyone gets the same level of care and attention that she has received, then there can be no better hospital than Warwick anywhere in the country.

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share these kind comments about your mother's treatment. I really hope your mum is recovering well.
