Unfortunately my story is not a good story but rather a story that explains my dissatisfaction following a recent Orthodontics appointment at Ayr Hospital.
My dentist referred me to the orthodontist as I required work to move to move teeth to correct my bite and make space for a tooth implant at the front of my mouth. I attended appointment with a specialist at Ayr hospital who advised my dentist, in writing, following a recent appointment that he was going to offer me a course of orthodontics.
My dentist then acted on advice from the specialist and removed a tooth that was causing me problems from the front of my mouth and replaced it with a temporary plate and tooth. I then returned to see the specialist at Ayr hospital who then told he me he was unable to offer me the course of treatment. Needless to say I am a bit confused that he has informed my dentist that he would be offering me the treatment and then gone back on his word.
Naturally, I was very upset having been told that I would be offered this treatment, annoyed that I had paid for a temporary plate to be fitted and angry that my dentist had to wait approximately 6 months to remove the tooth as she was waiting on instructions coming through from the specialist on how to proceed.
Having recently been seen by the orthodontist within my dental practice, who is unsure why the specialist has said he cannot carry out the treatment, I would to speak to another consultant orthodontist to obtain a second opinion.
