"Lack of A and E at High Wycombe causing 84 yr old lady unnecessary suffering."

About: Wycombe Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

In May 2015 I emailed the hospital giving full details of the above event and have never received a reply or acknowledgment. I feel I would get little feedback from you either so I am reluctant to tell my story again. as I feel it would be a waste of time.

If you can be bothered to retrieve the email and, perhaps, reply to it that would be a nice gesture. - Briefly a 3pm appointment eventually ended at 2 am the next morning. Hardly acceptable for an 84 yr old woman in excruciating pain.

Yours truly

Dear Ms Powell

I work in the constituency office of Steve Baker, MP for Wycombe.  If you would like to contact me on 01494 448408 we will be happy to help with a complaint to Wycombe Hospital.

If your relative does not live in the Wycombe constituency, I can put you in touch with the appropriate MP.

Yours,

Sue Hynard

Thank you Sue Hynard for your response.

Sadly the patient I have written about died last month.

In May 2014 I took her to Wycombe for an xray. Under the xray she was found to have fractures of the spine and she needed to attend A & E - which as you will know meant a journey to S.Mandeville.

She was taken by ambulance (an extremely painful journey for her) at 6pm, saw a consultant around midnight, was told she had osteoporosis, could go home, and should see her GP to request Pain Relief.... She arrived home at 2am the next day.

Further investigations showed that she had Myeloma. From then on she began treatment and was cared for as an outpatient at Wycombe very caringly.

I wonder where Steve Baker stands regarding the closure of Wycombe A and E?

Dr Mr Banton

It s always helpful to have a telephone number where you can speak to someone who has real 'clout'! However the real help I would like to see is for the A and E Department to be reinstated at Wycombe Hospital. For this 84 year old patient to have an outpatient hospital appointment for an xray at 3 pm and to be still in the system at 2am the next morning is absolutely horrendous. She cannot be the only person to have been affected in this way. A Town the size of High Wycombe with its surrounding area deserves it's own A and E Department because the presdent system obviously is not working.
