"She was so harsh and rude"

About: Leicester General Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Everything went well. Midwife were fantastic. I had a epidural by the time it worked baby was born. Then the midwifes changed shift. A midwife came and she started talking to me in a rude way. She had to clean me up and she just made my whole end experience upsetting and I felt like I was a burden. I couldn't empty my bladder straight away and she kept saying to me in a threatening way that do you want a catheter because that's what it looks like will happen if you don't empty your bladder. There's a way of talking to patients with kindness but she was so harsh and rude. When I asked for stockings she said rudely ok but I have other patients I'm seeing to too so you just have to wait. I just wish I remembered her name.

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment.

We are really sorry to hear about your experience in our Maternity unit at the General. It is completely unacceptable for a member of staff to be rude to you and we would like to look into your concerns further so we can improve our service.

If you are happy for us to do so, please email your details (name, address, date of birth, hospital number) to me - Ann.a.Buckley@uhl-tr.nhs.uk - and I’ll investigate.

Kind regards,

Ann Buckley
Senior Midwife
Leicester General Hospital
