"Sexual Health Service Wheatbridge Health Center Chesterfield"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Gynaecology NHS Hardwick CCG

(as the patient),

My very first visit today. I used to visit the GUM at Chesterfield Royal.

My first impressions clearly sign posted and free parking. I walked into Reception on first floor, and amazed and highly embarrassed that men were in the waiting room as well as women. This is a very sensitive situation to visit the clinic. I very much felt more comfortable at Chesterfield Royal GUM in the waiting room were separately seen in a separate area to the mens consulting area.

Then a male doctor called me again I would rather of been seen with a female doctor ALWAYS. I made an appointment in which this took 2 weeks before I was seen. My records were not at this new surgery. So I had to go through the embarrassing situation of explaining what sti I had and needed a prescription.

I went for a checkup had to do the swab myself. Being an elderly patient I found this difficult to do. Because it was a male doctor I rushed this before he came back into the room and I was experiencing a lot of discomfort rushing myself.

Usually before when I had swabs at chesterfield royal this was done by a nurse and tested on the same evening. All less stressful visiting the GUM. I cant say this for this new set up at Wheatbridge. Its horrible. Some patients do need that extra help, esp with someone older and still sexually active.

Please separate the men from the waiting room, and female doctors and nurses on every visit. Plus tests on sti done the same evening. Just the same service we had a the Chesterfield Royal

Thank you
