"I have had 2 relatives in here ..."

About: Pilgrim Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

I have had 2 relatives in here since Autumn last year, both of which contracted C-Diff. This would suggest to me a major problem that does not seem reflected in the score/rating. The latest was also not properly communicated to the family - they just found the patient being barrier nursed when arriving for a visit. This was particularly poor given that his wife was on antibiotics and therefore should not visit.

Also certain basic treatments in terms of antibiotics and bed sore treatment seem unavailable. Sub standard bed sore treatment had to be scrounged from a member of staff. A hospital with the appropriate antibiotics unavailable also seems poor. Medication bought from home and explained was also not administered. This being for a heart condition. I believe there has been an improvement in condition since this was recommenced at relatives insistence.

I also have a third relative who was in this hospital a couple of years ago whose care was not what it should have been. I have a very poor view of this hospital. All of these patients were elderly - I am not sure this is a coincidence!
