My father was admitted to Good Hope hospital. He has dementia yet can have good communication days and bad ones. We informed the staff of this. When we visit, daily, it has been so hard to get updates, it seems that because doctor has spoken to dad they don't see the need to communicate to family members what treatment plan is taking place as dad always forgets what has been said to him and nurses are always too busy to tell us when we ask. Would be a good idea to have notepad at bedside for family members to leave questions (with the patients permission) so they can be answered and so avoid time that should be spent visiting patient being wasted trying find someone who can give accurate information on progress/treatment of patient.
