"Compassionate and Personal Care for My Mother"

My mother has dementia and lives in the Cambridgeshire area. She has got worse over the last few years and we have had to increase the care package quite a lot recently. As a family we have had a difficult time getting the care right from different agencies over the years but my mother now has an excellent service from Home Instead.

What makes it excellent is the care taken over delivering exactly what is on the care plan and doing so in a personal and compassionate way. My mother forgets most peoples names these days but she does remember the name of Jane one of the carers who has built a lovely rapport with my mum. I believe she has done this by taking the care over the little things, like tone of voice, getting on the same level as my mum, making eye contact. When there is time she reads to my mum which is something she loves.

All the care has been good, particularly noteworthy was the time that Jane was off sick and the manager rang me to check that it was ok, if she personally went to introduce a new worker to my mum. So the management of the care package and communication with family has also been good and able to react to changing needs. Its a relief to have found a care team able to respond to my mum's needs and work flexibly with myself and my family.
