"Bad treatment on ward a23"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

recently I was a patient on this ward with early pregancy issues. During my stay I was made to feel that my symptoms were made up and was wasting time of the medical team. Ward is run by nurses who are newly qualified and unable to carry out jobs unsupervised. This leads to delays in reciving medication and patients needs not being met. I was baffled by some of the comments made by some staff members whom are meant to be working in a caring role and dealing with vulnerable women who maybe going through traumatic pregancy issues. The nursing profession is meant to be caring and this is none existence on this ward which is a massive worry as its the only ward that deals with early pregancy issues. After my poor experience of service on this ward Iv been left with no choice but to take my care to another hospital miles away not out of choice but as my faith and trust in the medical staff in this department have been broken that I don't feel I'm able to return for any future care here. Going to another hospital my needs have been taken seriously and and firm plan for future care has been established and I can finally say I'm able to relax and enjoy the rest of my pregancy without fearing what will be said if I needed admission or advise and feeling like I'm wasting time and resources. Best decision was to move my care from this hospital .

I am deeply concerned to read your feedback following your recent stay. With your help I would like to investigate this further so that we can address any issues we have with staff behaviours on the unit. Can you get in touch with me on 0115 9249924 ext. 70278 or email sarah.kordula@nuh.nhs.uk and I will personally follow this up. Kind regards, Sarah Kordula. Ward manager, A23.
