I can't rate Kettring General Maternity services high enough! During my pregnancy I had reduced movement 3 times the third time after my due date and the midwives and doctors worked with me and listened to me and looked after me. 2 days before my induction was due my waters broke and induction was moved forward to 24 hours later but my contractions started 4 hours before. I rushed into hospital after only an hour as my baby wasn't moving and was hooked to monitors right away and given gas & air as the contractions were very painful and close together. I was taken to labour ward as soon as a room was available as babies heartrate wasn't right. In the labour ward I had 2 midwives with me at all times as my babies heartrate dipped every contraction and as I wasn't dilating any further I was rushed to have an emergency c section. It was the quick thinking of the midwives that saved my baby as baby was back to back and facing upwards so just wasn't coming out. The cord was wrapped around her neck so with every contraction it tightened causing her heartrate to dangerously drop. The doctor/surgeon did a fantastic job and got my baby out so quickly and safely and did a great job of stitching me back up The aftercare was also fantastic and because of this I was back on my feet walking around properly as soon as o left hospital 2 days later. The midwives were fantastic with breastfeeding support too day and night. All in all I don't have a bad word to say, my babies life was saved as was my sanity :o)
"Difficult birth but fantastic care"
