"Not taken seriously by crisis team"

About: Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Adult community mental health

(as the patient),

I feel I was a nuisance to the Crisis Team in Taunton when I called last weekend. I was not taken seriously or listened to and almost made to felt guilty why I was calling them.

To cut a long story short I was left even more distressed and went down hill fast requiring hospital care/999 because of self harm and had to call on various different emergency services in more of a panic as if was putting myself and other people at risk, had to go into a psychiatric unit unnecessarily and to be honest it could of been avoided in a matter of half an hour.

It has put me off calling them again because it keeps reoccurring and it doesn't make sense in any way to call them because they do not want to help with things.

Response from Lucy Nicholls, Patient Experience Manager, Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Leanne,

I'm sorry to hear that you did not receive the care that you needed from the Crisis Team last weekend. It's very hard for me to comment further without knowing who you are or being able to look into this a bit more for you. If you would like me to do this for you, please do email me at lucy.nicholls@sompar.nhs.uk.

We do try to help when people are at crisis point: our crisis services are currently being re-designed in order to improve our services going forwards. If you felt able to get in touch and give us more information, that would be helpful, as we do want to make sure we are getting things right for patients.

Once again, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience of our services - but thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Kind regards, LUCY

Not that helpful unfortunately as when I rang there was a negative response

Try not to complain or will get discharged as several people I know have in recent weeks so counting myself quite fortunate for now

Thanks for input anyway
