"disgusting"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I am really upset that I had to walk home with a really bad back and chest when I got told I was getting transport but the member of staff on desk at A&E said I wasn't aloud it when I was told I was.

We appreciate the time taken to leave your feedback on our services at the Emergency Department RVI. We would wish to apologise for any miss-communication over discharge arrangements from the Department, our staff should always enquire about transport and explore possible solutions with patients as to what is in their best interest so they can be discharged safely. Unfortunately the Emergency Department does not have a dedicated discharge transport service. We can access transport from the ambulance service for patients who are eligible to receive this, however emergency calls to the service are prioritised before these requests and this is often not a viable option to get home. We will feedback your comments to the department and ensure staff are reminded of the importance for assistance with discharge arrangements wherever possible.
