"Absolutely dissatisfactory care."

Today I went to St Albans trauma & orthopedic out patient centre to see a the doctor. I had to wait 30 minutes in a queue just to get to the reception area to check in. Once I finally got to speak to the nurse at the desk I was very rudely told 'the doctor just hasn't turned up today'. Now I am not unreasonable, I understand that these things happen. However the manner in which I was told this news was in no way apologetic or professional. Then after expressing my frustrations; that I had been waiting for this appointment for 7 months, I was barked at that "you're not the only one that's been waiting, there could be people that had to wait longer than you you know". I'm sure that this is the case, but again, I do not appreciate being spoken to in this manner and made to feel any less worthy of care than any one else. I was not made aware that the consultant "hadn't turned up" by phone, email, even text, at any point before my 12pm appointment which added to my frustrations further. I was then told that it was my fault for not answering my landline, five minutes before this conversation was taking place; when I was already in the building. My main complaint here isn't that I didn't get my all important MRI scan results, it's that I'm very saddened by the lack of compassion from the nurse I spoke with and their audacity to trivialise my feelings. I am well within my rights to feel disgruntled especially as I had to book the day off of work well in advance. I really hope that this particular nurse managed to reign in their anger and act in a more professional way with potentially ill patients.
