Only ever having stayed in BVH to have my child I was apprehensive about my Concaneal Osteotmy & tendon transfer to left foot.
From the admission staff on Ward 15a, via Mr Sreekumar and his brilliant team, anaesthetists, porters, health care assistants, nurses, plastering team, x-Ray dept, catering lady, cleaners etc etc......all were friendly, professional, reassuring and caring.
My room on the ward was en suite, had a TV (sure helped with the boredom & anxiety) and was comfortable and immaculate.
I only expected to stay one night but ended up staying 3, and as a person who is normally a bit of a wimp in hospitals, I was made to feel cared for and welcome by the considerate staff.
Mr Sreekumar himself is not just a brilliant surgeon, he was very open and honest about my predicament, showed immense empathy and reassurance and is so friendly and 'human' in his manner I can only say I feel extremely lucky to have put in his care.
Being local and working myself in the regions public sector I'm well aware BVH often gets badly criticised (indeed my own father unfortunately experienced less than good treatment following a stroke 3 years ago). However I found my experience to be exceptional including the after care I've also received to date.
I only hope the sentiment of this review gets passed on to the relevant staff.....thank you all very much!
"The orthopaedic team were marvellous!"
