What I liked This hospital is amazing. I suffer from a rare condition - PKU , which meant that pregnancy was very difficult for me. I was guided through the nine months by some of the most kind, knowledgeable and supportive people I have ever met. My son was born healthy, 11 days overdue - (I was expected not to carry full term) Without their care and attention - my son could have been born with all sorts of problems. The hospital was clean and well staffed. It was very busy when I was there - but I still felt like I had a personal service. Staff were encouraging, and my partner was made to feel very involved during the birth - something he thought he could not deal with. The birth was amazing - my midwife gave me the confidence to do it without pain relief. I knew it was there if I wanted it, and that was reassuring. The midwife knew I was listening to my body - and she let me go into my own world and get on with it. After a complicated, medicated pregnancy , I wanted to have as natural a birth as possible. The hospital understood this. I have been inspired by the people at BWH - so much so, I am in the process of changing my career. After working in education for many years, I am now applying for a degree in midwifery. This hospital is wonderful.
