"Robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy surgery"

About: Lister Hospital

I was referred to Lister from L&D on30 March. I was seen on 28 April and operated on on 14 May. Once I was under Lister this was unbelievably and reassuringly fast. The consultant gave me so much confidence in them and the team. After my operation they called both my wife (who is mentally unwell) and, separately, my son who was and still is recovering from a road accident. They didn't have to do that but it was very much appreciated by all of us. All the staff on Ward 7B North were fantastic, constantly checking my post-operative pain level and providing relief as needed. Four weeks later the specialist nurses were very reassuring as my catheter was removed and help me learn how to deal with the inevitable incontinence. Throughout this whole period everyone was kind and reassuring at a time when I was frightened of cancer and of the operation with its risks. And everyone did their jobs most professionally.

We're really pleased to hear how highly you rated our urology service here at the Lister, but not half as pleased as our urology team colleagues - including the ward 7B north staff - when they read your feedback, which we have just sent to them. They will be delighted to read your kind words! In the meantime, we hope that you continue to make good progress in your recovery from cancer.
