"Inguinal hernia repair"

About: Good Hope Hospital

I had my first visit to the Good Hope treatment centre on the 5th of may 2015, where I met the consultant/ surgeon. Straight away they put my mind at rest and made me feel at ease, as Hospitals are one of the places I've always avoided like the plague. They booked my surgery for the 26th June 2015 at 1pm. I have always heard bad things about the NHS in regards of their standards, but I can honestly say I could not of been more happier with the way they treated me. I have a major phobia of needles, and so I knew this for me was a really big hurdle getting a hernia repair. All I can say is these people are a credit to their profession, and do not get enough praise for the wonderful jobs they do. It has been nearly 4 weeks since my surgery, and I could not be more happier with the way things have turned out for me. They are a brilliant surgeon, and after some of the horror stories I've read about online from other hospitals & surgeons, I really do count my blessings. I have no pain at all, although I do get sore around the area of the repair, but this is minor. I go for brisk walks every day to help speed up my recovery (which really does work). I would also like to thank the team who work on the wards, as they do an absolute stand up job, and would fully recommend Good Hope to anyone thinking about having this procedure done. I cant say enough about how well all the staff treated me, but I think I have made my point.... Amazing :)

Dear Mr Roberts

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding your experience at Good Hope Hospital for your surgical repair of an inguinal hernia.

your comments are most appreciated as our staff work very hard to provide a positive patient experience and I am pleased that you felt the staff made you feel welcome and at ease to enable your procedure to be carried out with minimum distress to you as the patient.

I will forward your comments to Mr Charles Hendrickse Clinical Director for General Surgery as well as to Caroline Deekes, Matron for General Surgery at Good Hope Hospital, who will ensure that your comments are forwarded to all of the staff involved in your care.

I hope this is acceptable and I sincerely wish you a speedy recovery and once again thank you for your comments, your feedback is extremely important to us.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
