My dad found out he had cancer in april 2009 the geogina unit and staff are amazing,my dads first treatment of chemo didnt work for him so he was told he would go to new cross for radiotherapy we went on wednesday 12th aug to be told he had fluid on his lungs and that he couldnt be treated as this should have been drained weeks ago by russells hall,i was so angry as we wernt informed of this when my dad had his results on 3rd aug by his doctor i arranged with help from the secretary that he would go in monday 17th to have line put in and a drain my dad was so ill and frail he couldnt walk far he didnt eat as he is so unwell but still he had to wait then yesterday (sat 15th aug) he was so bad an ambulance had to be called. he as now had the fluid drained and hopfully feeling better and is being cared for on the georgina unit .i am so angry that we wasnt informed of this earlier like on 3rd aug when dad had the full results from his scan why did it take so long to come to light and to hear it from anouther doctor at a different hospital WHY?? all i hope now is my dad gets the full care that he should have had and is informed correctly of any problems or change in anyway. i know mistakes happen but my dad as suffered in a huge way this could have been avoid if communication hadnt of lasped.
