"Maternity ward and dmu"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I've had 4, soon to be 5, babies delivered at Ninewells and with my first child I felt a little down about it, as I felt being a young parent I was looked down upon.

Dreaded my 2nd child's birth but can honestly say his birth and my other 2 sons births I enjoyed the experience and care given from the midwives. Felt much more friendly, had a good yap with a few of them when it was only myself in the dmu.

Looking forward to another good experience with my 5th child. So thank you for a wonderful job you midwives do

Dear Mumto5

Thank you for your feedback on Patient Opinion. I am very pleased to hear that, after a poor first experience of the maternity service in Tayside, you have had 3 good experiences.

Feedback from women who use our service is so important, so that we know where we are getting it right and can keep doing the good things, and where we are getting it wrong, we can improve. I have ensured that the team in the DMU can see your positive feedback, recognising the wonderful job that they do and re-emphasising the importance of caring for women, no matter their age, with respect and kindness.

With very best wishes to you for your upcoming 5th experience and I hope this will also be as positive.

Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience.

Justine Craig

Head of Midwifery
