I was diagnosed with breast cancer in both breasts in February 2012 and was allocated a surgeon. I have nothing but praise for the service I received from the consultant and their team of breast care nurses to the surgical staff and the staff on your chemotherapy unit. I was treated with dignity and respect at all times and received the best of care both as an in patient and during follow up treatments. My surgeon has performed exceptional reconstruction work which I did not know was possible to achieve, in turn enabling me to recover much quicker both physically and psychologically. If I had to choose a problem it would only be that prior to my major operation I was not allowed a family member with me to keep me calm and distract me from the major change in body image I was about to undergo. By the afternoon when I was taken for surgery I burst out crying in the anaesthetic room. But all in all I am very thankful for how good a service the NHS is. Your breast care services in particular are outstanding! Very well done!
