About: Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I arrived in A&E on the 8-12- 2008 with lower abdo pain bareing in mind i was 8 weeks pregnant,i was seen by a nurse quite quickly infact and then sent round to a bed so far so good, after waiting about 20-30 minutes i was asked to do a urine sample which is a routine check when pregnant and having low abdo pain, that sample was done and tested which came back negative,i was then told they needed to take bloods to confirm that i may have had a miscaraige which surprised me as i'd had no bleed? blood was taken and sent away.Aroung half hour later i was seen by a very rude doctor who i would say was from poland he told my husband and myself that our baby was dead,i asked about the blood test and he very rudly replyed no need to check bloods and that the negitive pregnancy test was enough proof that our baby had died,by now i was in floods of tears as it took us 2 years to concive. He then press very very hard on my abdoman which made me sick he also felt both breasts and asked if they were still tender,he patted my head and told me that every europian woman will have a miscaraige an abortions and maybe a healthly baby this was just before sending me home,as you can imagne im so upset i just wanted out the hospital,we both left very angery and upset at what we were told.i got home and done a home pregnancy test as i still felt pregnant and to our surprise i was.we got in the car and went over to worcester royal hospital i was again seen very quickly and again had to do a urine sample however this time it was positive and my bloods were checked on screen and they confirmed i was still very much pregnant,a scan was booked and that to showed i was still infact pregnant i went home knowing that our baby was ok and to my surprise i had a very bad water infection with blood and protine which later cofirmed i had diabeties.A letter of complaint was wrote and sent away and a great reply returned the doctor was sacked and i went on to have a beautiful baby girl phoebe on 6-7-2009

What could be improved

The doctor infact didn't have any consideration for his patient and the way the hospital acted on what was a very upsetting time for us they clearly just didn't have the time of day which i feel is very important,if they can't do there job then they really should consider another.

Anything else?

Worcester royal hospital have been absousolutely fantasic i was also admitted several time during pregnancy with again the same problems and every time we were treated with the upmost respect and we couldn't thank them all enough even through the delivery of our baby girl there teams were the best.
