"Blood test"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

I went for a blood test arriving at 9.00am and left at 10.50am.There were 16 people ahead of me when i arrived and it took nearly 2 hours to be seen.Having waited nearly one and a half hours in one area when my number was called I was very frustrated to be in another queue on the other side of the doors. What was perplexing was that there were 3 phlebotomists on but only one doing any work. The other 2 were heard giggling and chortling whilst looking at a computer screen. There were young women in the queue behind me with babies in prams waiting as as long as me but that didn't motivate these 2 to call any patients in.When i was called I asked what was causing the delays and the one phlebotomist said they had been dealing with the Warfarin clinic and hadn't long been doing the general blood tests. That still meant that the other 2 people hadn't got through 16 people in nearly 2 hours! There was quite a lot of unrest in the waiting area, people had to be back at work, had parking time concerns and others, like me,were on a fasting blood test and hadn't eaten for about 14+ hours. This poor phlebotomist was on their own while the other two ,quite frankly, couldn't care less.17 million pound hospital! Not really worth it if the staff don't care to provide a proper or caring service,Shall go for my blood tests elsewhere in future
