"Anxious... but so happy following my surgery"

About: Circle-Nottingham NHS Treatment Centre

After having had many gastrointestinal operations the decision was made by my consultant to perform an open cholecystectomy (I had many gallstones) to help avoid complications that are more likely with keyhole procedures. I have huge anxiety issues having spent quite a lot of time in QMC when I was a child and having on a few occasions fallen victim to the unavoidable short staffed-ness on the wards each time the NHS budgets were cut. However, this time I experienced no issues and I really am thankful that hospital's management do now want to ensure conditions are improved for patients. There was always someone available when I needed them and although maybe I had to wait a little for my request to be fulfilled, if it was urgent the nurses really went out of their way to help me. It was a much less traumatic experience than I was anticipating and hugely speedy over all as I was at home within 2 days! That only happened because the after care I received on this occasion was second to none. Thank you all so much

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The staff in the Daycase Department and the Short Stay Unit were delighted to know that you felt well cared for and that your experience was less traumatic than you were expecting.
