I came into Wexham on July 15th for an operation to remove metal wires in my ankle due to infection. I first came to ward one and met their lovely day matron who was later fantastic when I almost fainted making me feel really calm and back to normal really quickly. I then moved to theatre admissions pre-op where the nurses were really friendly and fun, we had a good laugh before they allowed me to sleep on a comfortable bed until the operation. The nurses here also double checked through my notes many times which was good so someone could notice any tiny mistake to be 100% safe. The anaesthetist was great, I felt really safe with them as they talked me through exactly what they were doing and was very reassuring. Then I saw my surgeon very soon after I came round post-op, they made sure I had enough pain relief which I did and let me know how it all went (which was well thankfully with no complications). The nurses in aftercare were all lovely, they were incredibly attentive and each patient in there had their own nurse sat by their bedside at all times in case they needed anything. After that I was lucky enough to move to the Paragon Suite where the care was absolutely second to none. I had a private room with an ensuite bathroom, again the nurses were brilliant. The food was also really nice which was surprising! I had two great curries and tasty desserts. They even brought me cream for my eczema as I didn't know I would have to stay overnight in the hospital so didn't bring my creams with me. There is absolutely nothing I can fault. I would recommend Wexham to anyone, I've heard some bad stories in the past but can 100% say that I feel I couldn't have had any better care even if I went private. A huge thank you to everyone who looked after me and made my experience manageable.
"Amazing care"
