"Treated like a human being who needed care."

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

I had a complete knee replacement on July 8th (checked in a 0730!) and was discharged on following Saturday PM. My experience was 100.0% positive. The multinational and cultural nursing, cleaning and catering staffs were a happy-hard working cooperative respectful bunch of girls and boys that it was a delight to be cared for by them. Indeed, their attention to and care for an old (83) chap was humbling. Though not overtly looking for social contact with their patients as they worked their protocols on them, contact was easily made on catching their eye or verbally. Frequent visits for BP measurement, attending to dressings and feeding provided opportunities to speak with them as they worked and was welcomed with a broad smile and twinkle of the eye. They were extremely busy so could not dally for extended conversation. Never-the-less talk of families was always seized upon with pleasure, the odd tease was responded to in kind. Humour prevailed everywhere! In short my experience was totally positive. Thank you, you lovely people. Food was acceptable with wide tasty options.

Thank you for your very kind comments concerning the staff at the William Harvey Hospital. While I admit a 7.30am start is pretty grim (!), I am glad to learn that you were home in good time. It is good to hear that your time on the ward passed so pleasantly and that you enjoyed the meals. I hope that your knee continues to mend really well.
