I was admitted to The Royal Sussex Hospital in mid June 2015 . I was absolutely blown away by the exceptional care I received in the 6 days I was there. From the paramedics and ambulance staff that attended our home to the reassuring calm and caring A&E staff from the radiographers, doctors and nurses to porters, catering and cleaning staff all without exception, were kind, cheerful, courteous and caring. Knowing A&E (by definition) can be a noisy and busy place, staff offered me a sleep mask to enable me to rest a little. This outstanding level of care continued following my admission to Level 9a of the Millennium wing. The ward was spotlessly clean, the facilities could rival many private hospitals and once again the dedication , care and commitment shown by all the staff on the ward was truly amazing. Every single member of staff looking after me during my admission, introduced themselves by name and informed me of their role. Any questions I had were answered clearly and requests were responded to immediately ; from an extra pillow or cup of coffee, to queries about my drugs, treatment or plan for discharge. No request was ever forgotten, despite being a very busy ward. Thank you so, so much particularly to the nurses for your outstanding nursing care and the Health Care Assistant for their bright and cheery disposition and 5am cups of tea when the baby seagulls' squawking in the nest of and adjoining ledge woke us all up! I hope not to need your services in the future but if I, or any family member did so, I could rest assured I would receive a 5* service, of which the NHS should be proud!
