"stays in hospital"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

I have stayed in the hospital 5/6times in the last 4years usually on a medical ward, the first 3 times were fine clean, food, staff and tv+phone all great *****. Six months ago I was admitted and stayed 5 days all seemed fine but no tv! And staff very rushed "so ok it gets busy", then on the 3rd night,a Saturday, I was asked to move to ward 3, ok no prob anything to make life easier.

What a disaster, none of the staff knew who they were working with. patients with no meds some had no food and I must say the staff seemed to hate it, not just in the way they were working but in what they were saying about the hospital.

The next day my meds were 6 hours late after I had asked for them too many time to count so I discharge myself. The last time I was admitted again to medical ward 8. No tv, food rotten, and nurses didn't seem to give a damn and when asked to move to ward 3 after a few days I refused so did other patients. What is going on? I would like a reply please.

Dear Dale

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. I was terribly disappointed to read of your experience on your last couple of stays in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. This is certainly not the standard of service we wish to provide to our patients and clearly not the standard you have experienced on previous stays with us.

In order to be able to look into this properly and provide you with a full response to your concerns, I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01387 272733 or michaela.cannon@nhs.net so that I can find out a bit more information about your stays and try to find out what happened and how we can try to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes
