"I was incredibly lucky"

About: Barnsley Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with multiple blockages in my transverse and descending colon, my weight had dropped to about 9 stone, and eating was nearly impossible without the expectation of vomiting.

Obviously my surgery was a success, however before surgery it was unknown what my blockages were, they were in fact cancer stage two, I was incredibly lucky, the staff however did there best not to morbid or false humour me by pretending that a full colostomy or inoperable cancer were not realities.

I really appreciated that. However at the same time they did not pander to any feedback any fears I had without solid evidence.
