"Gastroscopy Proceedure"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Not normally one for leaving reviews but immediately after the Proceedure I thought that great care and service should be recognised. Although the proceedure is not painful, it is more unpleasant and very uncomfortable, however I have nothing but praise for the nurse that cared for me and took an interest in the person rather than just 'another patient' although I must add that the skill of the endoscopist should be praised too. The nurse kept talking to me throughout even though I couldn't see them, giving reassurance and some coaching too along the way and letting me know what was happening - the best bit was hearing that the endoscope was slowly being removed, but that was only part of what the nurse did. If I had to have this Proceedure again, I would personally ask for this nurse to be present again. Thank You.

Many thanks for your extremely kind comments posted recently on the NHS Choices website regarding the Endoscopy Department. Our staff try very hard to provide a high standard of care to all our patients and receiving such positive feedback is always appreciated. I will certainly ensure that your comments are shared with all the relevant staff. Many thanks, once again, for taking the time to provide us with this important information and may we take this opportunity to wish you our very best wishes for the future. Kind regards The Patient Experience Team for Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
