I chose to have my second child in Nevill Hall after a bad experience at the Gwent with my first child and I'm so glad I did.
From the first time I went to Nevill hall for my booking in right until delivery my experience was outstanding. Every single member of staff was polite and welcoming and so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and the care was excellent.
The midwives looking after me during labour in early June 2015 were amazing. They were encouraging yet respectful of the hypnobirthing techniques I was using and persevered, trying to help me have the natural birth in the pool I so wanted. Unfortunately this was not to be as my large baby had turned back to back and I needed assistance. The doctor (Dr Bradshaw) was lovely and reassuring, as was the anaesthetist, about an instrumental delivery, which I feared after last time. They delivered my 10lb 4oz boy safely and despite me needing forceps and ventouse the experience did not feel stressful because of the amazing care and reassurance I received.
This fantastic care continued in the post natal ward for me and my baby. I cannot thank all of the staff enough. They truly were amazing and what a different experience to last time. I would urge any woman in Newport to give birth in Nevill Hall. Such a lovely atmosphere. It is worth the extra travel time and the views from the hospital itself are beautiful.
