"Septorhinoplasty at Trafford was the worst thing I..."

What a regret it is that I decided to ask for Trafford General instead of Salford Royal for my ENT surgery and referral. Despite being initially reassured that my cosmetic outlook would not be flawed at my expense, we went ahead with the surgery. It turns out that my nose is worse (both physically and aesthetically) since the operation, and I cannot get another appointment to see the doctor. I did actually get one appointment to go and express my concerns, yet because the doctors English isn't amazingly fluent - I wasn't able to communicate myself. The doctor insisted that they thought my nose was better, and that if I wanted them to redo it, I would have to pay £5,000 privately (implying my concerns were purely cosmetic). Despite me disagreeing with the doctor, and explaining that the function of my nose is significantly worse, and my symptoms are much worse; and I've gone from being generally well, to very unwell - the doctor continued to write back to my GP that I was apparently "super happy" with the cosmetic outcome, and completely failed to mention any of my negative symptoms. Untrue, and on paper, in my medical notes, according to the doctor, I am super happy, fit and well. After several attempts to get back in to see a different doctor after explaining that I struggle to understand the first doctor, I was told that they were their only doctor, and that I wouldn't be able to see a new one unless I was referred back by my GP (ie. another 2 month+ wait on a waiting list - and that's before I even get to tell someone about my symptoms, let alone do anything about it). The doctor is probably an expert in the ENT field, but in my opinion, is no good as a doctor working with patients. The nurse chaperone in the room was an interpreter passing messages back and forth and explaining the mumblings from the doctor, and was not present as a chaperone. Just to reassure the reader that I am in fact not just somebody who cares about how their nose looks and crying about it, allow me to raise the facts that the surgeon has left me with exposed cartilage inside my nose, which has still not healed after 6 months, and now the exposed cartilage is discoloured, causing pain, and bleeding regularly. I cannot breath out of either nostril at the best of times. I cannot eat my meals any more and have lost three stone since the operation, I have constant headaches, facial pain, neck pain and feel like I'm going to pass out most of the time. I'm pretty sure I've been left with some kind of infection inside my left nostril and left side of my head. Although I do hate the cosmetic outcome, the detrimental impact to my health alone is bad enough. If you value your health and your appearance, ask to go to another local hospital instead - you might thank me. I have since been referred to another hospital and they've agreed to fix the mess. What a drama and lot of messing around for something an NHS doctor has caused.
