"Thank you to the Paed Team in A&E"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

They were fantastic in looking after my 22 month old son and nothing was too much trouble. Their manner put my son at ease and now whenever he is poorly or has a high temperature he asks for the doctor who looked after him in A&E. The same cant be said for the out of hours GP (contacted via 111) who was very snearing of A&E, claimed the guidelines in the leaflet given by them were wrong and they couldnt make up their minds about the latest faddy advice. They gave very bad advice and wanted to needlessly admit my child at midnight for no clear reason. We didnt heed their advice and my GP confirmed at an appointment the following day the advice given by A&E was correct and he had been given excellent care at LRI's A&E.

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to share you and your son's experience with us. We are delighted to hear the Children's A&E team treated you both with care, compassion and professionalism. We have passed this onto the team so they see your gratitude. We are sorry this isn't reflected in your experience with 111 and your GP, it's disappointing that your son's care wasn't the same high standard across the NHS as a whole. Unfortunately, Leicester's Hospitals does not manage these services so we instead recommend you contact your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) depending on where you live, this will be West Leicestershire, Leicester City or East Leicestershire & Rutland CCG. Best wishes Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
