"Hip replacement surgery"

Thank you Weston General Team! On July 25th I underwent a total hip replacement, under the care of the orthopaedic surgeon, and their team.. What a wonderfully positive experience, from my initial dealings with the hospital, including x-ray, clinics, pre-operative assessment and occupational therapy, through to the admissions, anesthetics, surgical and recovery teams on the day, and finally my 4 night post operative stay on Steep Holm Ward. I always felt supported and treated with professionalism and respect. and a smile. Any embarrassment on my part was swiftly allayed and nothing was too much trouble, The ward seemed to run like a well oiled machine. I include in this praise, all the support teams. The Housekeeping staff don't just keep the place clean, they do it with a smile, and are happy to help you reach the thing you can't quite stretch to. There is a good choice of food, and bearing in mind what must be a tight budget, it is perfectly acceptable, with fresh fruit and snacks always on tap. The physios had me mobilised, walking and "doing stairs" before I knew it! I have several experiences of surgery in both NHS and private hospitals, and have many years experience in customer care and service. It gives me great pleasure to sing the praises of Weston General. I have high standards of service and care. Thank you for delivering them. And the niggles? I did have to wait for the operation, although having spoken with people in US A, Canada and Australia, it seems that waiting times are as long if not longer there. We are living longer and more treatments are possible. Queues are inevitable for non emergencies. Please keep patients as informed as possible, to help us manage our lives, work and support Bearing in mind that most people attending the hospital are likely to be physically restricted, please provide some seating near the car park ticket machine, around the car park, and by lifts. It helps to have a resting place! It is however ,wonderful to be able to park right by the main entrance. Thank you all.
