I can not thank the staff on the maternity assessment unit, antenatal care, labour ward, hdu, ward 314, theatre staff and the nicu enough for what they did for myself and our daughter. After being on each and every ward there is in the maternity department every single one delivered outstanding care and kept me alive. Before having our daughter I wouldnt step inside a hospital as I was so scared but the staff on each and every ward made me feel at ease and reassured me that everything was going to be ok. After being ok up until 33 weeks and then being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia it was a massive shock to me but I was supported all the way through it right up until and beyond the point where I had an emergency c-section at just 34 + 5 weeks after my pre-eclampsia turned servere very quickly overnight. I spent alot of time on the hdu where the staff were constantly checking on me and making sure I was comfortable and well and couldnt do enough for me and my husband. The staff on the maternity assessment unit were very efficient and as soon as they knew something was wrong were quick all three times to transfer me to the labour ward for further assessment. Staff on the labour ward were very caring - as I was rather upset but managed to calm me down and reassure me. The staff on ward 314 were also very helpful, if it wasnt for the staff on this ward when the pre-eclampsia turned servere and they were quick to call a doctor down to me I prehaps wouldnt be here with my daughter today. The theatre staff were amazing and I can not find enough words to thank them - I am truly so grateful for keeping me calm and telling me that everything was going to be ok. The anethetist did an outstanding job too and kept talking to me and husband throughout to reassure me that i was ok. The nicu unit and all its staff also did an amazing job and the care they gave to our daughter was second to none. It was such a long and hard 3 weeks stay in the derby royal hospital but it was made so much easier because of all the staff there who do such an amazing job every single day. All the staff doctors, nurses, anethetists, theatre staff etc. communicate so well with eachother. I will defiantly be coming back to the derby royal if/when we have our second baby no doubt about it. I just want to say a massive thankyou to everyone who cared for me throughout my stay - my husband and I are so grateful and im just glad i came out of the whole experience alive and well and with a beautiful and very healthy daughter. Thankyou once again :)
"Amazing hospital - very grateful"
