"Prolapsed Disk"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

I have a prolapsed disk which is extremely painful and am totally disgusted at how I was treated by the paramedics that attended my emergency call and the hospital. I had some pain in my back that has gradually been getting worse and I had received some medication from my own GP. Last weekend I was visiting some friends in Basingstoke who had just had a baby. I got up to use the toilet, my legs gave way and I collapsed on the floor. I was unable to move the bottom half of my body and the back pain was so bad I was screaming with pain. My friends called an ambulance. When the paramedics arrived without any examination they insisted that the pain was psychological and that I could stand up. They spent over an hour telling me to get on my hands and knees even though they could see I could not move the lower part of my body. They did not give me any pain killers and watched me wiggle around in pain with tears in my eyes using my upper body and elbows but did nothing to help me and refused to give me any pain relieve After over an hour they told me there was nothing they could do for me and they were not going to take me to hospital. After heated discussions with my friends and other visitors who were present including threats to call the police the paramedics finally agreed to take me to Basingstoke hospital if my friends could get me into the ambulance. At Basingstoke hospital the paramedics told the doctors my pain was physcalogical but that they had been forced to take me to the hospital. At the hospital I was seen by a junior doctor who without any examination told me my pain was physcalogical and refused to give me any pain killers. I was left on hospital bed without any blankets or pillows for 10 hours and my temperature dropped and I started to alternate between hot and cold like a fever. The doctors still did nothing. The only comment made was why I went to Basingstoke hospital instead of my own hospital Frimlypark. Eventually I was manhandled into a wheelchair and taken out to the car park and just left there. I was given a prescription for 6 X 2mg Diazepam tablets. There was no discharge note or note to my GP.I think this is totally disgusting. My GP is now treating me. I have had Xrays at Frimly Park and I have a prolapsed disk. Nothing to do with Physiological pain. Its defiantly not just in my mind.because of the lack of care i received I spent almost 30 hours in total agony until my GP prescribed me pain killers .Some of these people defiantly do not belong in a caring profession.
