"Emergency long stay on 5S ward Royal Free"

About: Royal Free Hospital

I had an emergency stay on 5s ward at 20 weeks which unfortunately became much longer than expected. This is my first baby so there were many new experiences for me and my husband to encounter after being on a maternity ward for that long! The Royal Free is not my booked hospital but the care and attention I received was outstanding. it is obviously a very busy maternity and labour ward and over the time I was there I was able to see both busy and quite times, but the staff conduct a sterling job with the resources they have. Let's be honest, it is not a nice place to spend a week mid way through your pregnancy and I was desperate to go home! However the staff, particularly the midwives were knowledgable, attentive and caring which ensured I was provided with timely care and had the best experience I possibly could whilst admitted. Fingers crossed I get to the end of this pregnancy ride in one piece and with a healthy baby and if I don't go back to the Royal Free I will certainly be writng to staff on 5S to let them know how we got on in the end, as I feel they are now invested in our care. Big huge thanks to the team from Emma, Will and as yet unborn bean!!
