"First Class Staff"

I came into A and E in a lot of pain with kidney stones. I was taken through pretty quickly and given pain killers. Tests followed quickly after that and I was kept very well informed by the doctor attending me. I was taken to Mersea Ward and immediately spoken to by the nurse on duty, who informed me what was going to happen. This person made me feel important and nothing was too much trouble. It occurred to me that this person must be treating a lot of people that way on this nightshift. This standard was continued over the few days I stayed, by all of the other staff I came in contact with including nurses, doctors, porters, catering and cleaning. There was such good rapport between the staff and their patients. It struck me there was smooth transference between shifts and good co-ordination between departments. The surgeon and anaesthetist explained the process so I knew what to expect and came in to explain how things had gone afterwards. I know this sounds too good to be true, and I do realise that things can go wrong in any business or organisation, but the care I received on my stay was first class.
