"Many thanks G4S for help with Disabled Parking"

About: Good Hope Hospital

Attended Tuesday 31/06/15 for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening. Arrived early due to well known common lack of parking problem. Spent 20/30 minutes driving around the hospital site unable to find a disabled parking space. Blue badge for mobility difficulties. Need space to open door wide and space to open tailgate to get out rollator walker needed to assist walking & ability to stop, take a break for pain relief when intense. As continually no disabled spaces available went to parking control office & spoke to G4S who control on site parking. They were very polite, helpful & readily offered assistance to find me a suitable disabled spot where I could unload my walker both safely & without inconveniencing other people. Also came out of the office to hold the identified space whilst I returned to my vehicle to move it to this area. They not only were so very helpful but had realised the requirements for room to get out of my vehicle & get my walker via the tailgate from the rear of my car & offered assistance to unload my walker but I am adept at having to handle myself. They were also reassuring that I would be able to get back into my vehicle on my return. They also spotted me returning to my vehicle & again offered help again. It is so gratifying to experience such human politeness, care & consideration for others particularly from a person employed by an outsourced provider. Also from someone who must constantly get complaints & subject to abuse for this constant on site car parking problem of which they have absolutely no control. They must have infinite amounts of patience, tact & diplomacy just to work each day in such a dreadfully tense environment of people complaining, moaning and often, I imagine, being obnoxious to a helpful polite & understanding individual. My grateful thanks & appreciation to the member of G4S for their help & consideration.

Dear Fat Controller

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our Parking & Security Officers at Good Hope Hospital, and the assistance that was given to you during your recent attendance.

I am so pleased that you were helped to identify a suitable parking space taking into account your disability and that you found the staff to be courteous, helpful and polite.

I will forward your comments to Gail Felton, our Security and Car Parking Manager for the Trust, and Gilbert Allen Security Manager for Good Hope Hospital who will ensure that your feedback is communicated to all of the team.

I hope this is acceptable and once again thank you for taking the time to post details of your experience, patient feedback and is extremely important to us.

With kind regards

Marie Helebert
