About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I would not go there again. The doctors at Addenbrooks wrote letters to a GP who does not see me and in doing so they kept up the farce, pretending I receive medical care on the NHS from a NHS-GP. At my last appointment in October 2008 I was told my kidneys would last until ~ January/February 2009 and no medical help what I should do to pretend or to assist me or what diet etc I should eat etc, was offered. The doctors I saw acted like robots and seemed to repeat what they seem to have learned by heart from their medical books. Unfortunately, with a disease like mine I should have met a doctor who likes medicine, is a medical detective and has an ability to combine. No luck there . Addenbrooks was a terrible dissapointment. I complained to Pals, the Managing Director etc, but there was no one interested to listen.

What could be improved

It is always down to the people working in a hospital to make it either good or bad.

Anything else?

Going to Addenbrooks was one of my most traumatic experiences on the NHS.

We were sorry to learn of your disappointment with the care you have received. I note that you have spoken to PALS before but would encourage you to speak to the service again to see what may be done to assist you further. We would not wish for any patient to leave the hospital feeling the way that you obviously do.
