I was refered to the Cardiology department for a consultation regarding an irregular heartbeat. My first appointment was in January 2015, this was cancelled and re-arranged for February 26th 2015, this also was cancelled and was re-scheduled for 24th February. I kept this appointment with the consultant and it was arranged for a return visit on the 26th of May. In the interim period I was supposed to have an ultra sound scan of my heart and a 24hour heart rate monitor fitted. I had not received an appointment after a couple of weeks so I rang his secretary who said an appointment was being arranged for the 24th of May but that I would received a written advice before the date. About ten days before my follow up appointment I had not heard anything about the scan or the monitor. I contacted the consultant's secretary without success and left a message which was not returned, I contacted appointments, again without success and left a message, I did have someone ring back a couple of days later. when I explained why I was ringing I was told there had been no request for an appointment for me. They also didn't offer any further solution. The appointment made for the 26th May was cancelled and re-arranged for the 9th June Which I attended. I did not see the consultant but I can't recall the doctors name who saw me. I explained to them why there had been no scan or monitor and told him of my efforts to find out. They said they would take this up with the Cardiology department and arrange for the appointment to be sorted out. This is now three weeks ago and I still have heard nothing. Can somebody let me know what is going on.
