"Consultation for 3 minutes.......rude doctor"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I came to the ENT department today and saw a Professor who in nice terms was emotionless. I went in and explained why i was there (tonsil stones and difficulty swallowing) the Professor seemed extremely disinterested had a quick look in my mouth to say they couldn't see any stones. i said they were there as i checked this morning. The Professor seemed to just dismiss this and said if they are there or not (as if i was lying) there's nothing that can be done. I explained to how this is interfering with my way of life and all that i have been doing as researched to stop the problem and the Professor didn't even comment on it, just said to try a difflam gargle and that's it. No follow up, no questions of family history with tonsils....nothing. I came out, was asked to do the FFT at which point i was so mortified i started to fill this out and started crying as i was just so shocked to the Professor's dismissive and not empathetic nature. Luckily the receptionist saw i was upset and a nurse took me to one side to see if i was OK. I explained what happened and the nurse knew which consultant it was straight away from my explanation. The nurse also gave me the name of a different consultant and told me to ask to be re-referred to them. I have waited 8 weeks for today's appointment to be no clearer on the situation, root cause of the problem or any way to fix it. After looking into this consultant i have found the Professor I saw was actually specialist in Nose and ear problems not throat which explains it all! Now i have to referred again and will probably have to wait yet another 8 weeks and another day off work!

Thank you for your comments I have passed them to the doctor in question and I am sure he will reflect on the situation. If you would like a second opinion I am more than happy to book you accordingly. Once you have seen your GP and they have agreed to re-refer you please let me know via email or phone and I will do my best to ensure your wait is not too long. My details are below.
