"Didn't even get as far as a treatment"

My gynecologist was based at this hospital for many years and then suddenly disappeared (retired?) without any notification whatsoever. I phoned to arrange for a routine smear test and also a mammogram. I was told that the relevant area was "very busy" and that they would call back later the same day. That was now over a week ago. I thought that the whole point of private medical services was ease of access. Ho hum!!
