My husband and I arrived in Oxford on June 6th and within ten minutes of arrival were in an ambulance taking us to john Radcliffe Hospital. The care we received there was fantastic and I am a Band 7 nurse and am not easy to please. The care we received in A and E was superb with particular the doctor who looked after my husband. Everything was explained, everyone introduced themselves (although we have forgotten all the names) and when we were told things would happen they did eg pain relief and x ray. We were then transferred to surgical assessment unit and eventually the ward and the porter who transferred us was also kind and caring. Again we were kept informed and everyone introduced themselves. Pain relief was offered and given and most importantly reviewed and alternatives given until my husband was settled. I was given a cup of coffee and made to feel welcome to stay. all of our questions were answered. The surgery was performed the same night and I was called at my hotel to tell me when he was going down to theatre. He was discharged home the next day with full discharge information. I was very impressed and proud of the NHS care given. Well done Doctors, nurses, porters and all other staff.
