On Wednesday I came to the day surgery unit 1 for a Lletz procedure after being transferred from Wexham as I was unhappy to be treated there because of they're CQC report. It was the best decision I've made in a long time. I wish to express my thanks to everyone in that unit from the receptionist to the nurses who all were so happy and helpful and all treated me with respect and dignity. The unit is clean and well set up. Before my procedure I was spoken to by the consultant and registrar, anaesthetist and by a person who were amazing, they explained everything in a way that I could understand and had a really really good manner about them. All of theses people introduced themselves by name and showed their ID to me and were friendly and professional in their approach. I actually went into theatre early ( this is a new one on me!) theatre 1. The anaesthetic team again were happy and friendly and seemed to have a good working relationship, again they explained who they were and what they were doing. Then in recovery, which was busy, everyone was professional and happy and I observed patients being treated with the highest level of care, the nurse who was treating me was so attentive and knew that I was in pain without me saying a word. Back in the day surgery unit as soon as I got back the nurse said to me, do you need your phone? Mind reader! I was given tea and loads of biscuits and a sandwich and checked on regularly. Until I decided I was ready to leave. I was in and out in 5 hours. I have been treated In Basingstoke, RBH, Swindon, Lister, Bedford, QE2 and Addenbrookes. I have never seen this level of care before or such a slick set up. There is a lot to be learned here for other hospitals. I hope that people who may have negative feelings towards the NHS get to experience what I have. It's a game changer. Please will you ensure that my thanks and best wishes are passed onto the team in the day surgery unit, theatres and gynaecology. Kind regards Hanna Fox
