"Cancer treatment"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

I would like to convey my thanks to all the medical staff concerned with cancer. After being referred to the Breast Imaging Department after the probable negative results from a routine mammogram, I found the service I received from the staff after my having to undergo biopsy etc., very reassuring. Obviously the hardest part of the cancer journey is awaiting results. However my waiting time was to the minimum and although I was at the time to be in shock to find out I needed treatment for cancer, I was allocated a very helpful and kind breast care nurse who I could contact over any concerns and advice. At the same time my surgeon explained my diagnosis and proposed operation and treatment. I am so grateful to them not only for their attitude which allayed my fears but subsequently operating successfully on me. The nurses in the Arthur Day Unit were efficient and kind. Again the difficult part is the wait for results and I was then referred to my Oncologist who took great pains to help me understand my proposed radiotherapy treatment and also answered all my questions so that I didn’t feel so worried. At all these stages I was given booklets, leaflets and relevant information concerning my diagnosis. Radiotherapy can be worrying especially dealing with the possible exhaustion etc., that you can feel and here again all the radiotherapy staff were so kind and understanding which helped me get through all my sessions successfully. I am very grateful to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital being there for me at a very difficult time in my life.
