"car parking charges"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

I visited my critically ill brother by car, we were at the hospital twice and sometimes 3 times a day, from the Friday to the Monday. The cumulative charges we were forced to fork out over this period amounted to an absolute fortune, this was an amount which we were not prepared for. Shame on the national health, we are working class people with working class wages and this is a scandal.

Response from Russells Hall Hospital

Thank you for your feedback about parking at Russells Hall Hospital. In line with most other hospitals in the region, patients and visitors are charged for parking at hour hospitals and outpatient centres. The money is used to maintain the car parks and to keep them safe and secure with 24 hour CCTV and security presence. Value cards are available to visitors who have relatives and friends in hospital. They are available at a fixed fee of £15 plus a £20 refundable deposit. Value card give you unlimited parking on the visitor car parks for seven consecutive days. They don’t, however, guarantee you a space. As value cards are subsidised by the Trust, there is only a limited number available. We continue to offer a limited amount of free parking for patients attending treatment in the Oncology (C4) and Renal departments three times a week or more for an extended period.
