"a&e, main reception desk, fracture clinic and day..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

Service provided by A&E staff was excellent and almost non existent waiting times inc x-Ray but all the waiting areas had splatters of blood on the floor. Very Good service overall. Main reception very unhelpful when attending for fracture clinic, asked for a normal NHS wheelchair ( all wards have them & saw several patients in them) which would allow me to propell myself via my good foot and was told not possible. I could ask if a porter could push me but that would take a long time.... if someone was able to!!! ( the wheelchairs you can get for £1, have to be pushed by someone due to their design) Very poor customer service for someone who's in pain and struggling to manouver on one leg and crutches! Day ward- operation - good service initially but the need to get you out by 9pm overtook patient care. Left patient who was clearly not well (feeling nauseous and faint) alone in changing area, as the staff need to get the ward ready for the next day. Then got a little irritated when pressed button for assistance, as thought was going to pass out. Then left alone again in the changing area when not able to get changed or well enough to get back to the main seating area. Eventually after another request, was assisted back to main area and given an anti- sickness injection and pain killers. May need to look at the patient care provided by staff! Very disappointing and upsetting.
