"Having my blood taken"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Rheumatology (Joint conditions)

(as the patient),

I attended for an appointment and felt nervous. Consultant was fine but obviously busy.

The nurses who took my blood afterwards appeared to be very busy but friendly. I was a bit taken aback that I was weighed and had bloods taken in a room along with another patient, with the nurse calling out to another that there was "a certain illness" blood samples to be sent to the labs. The other patient must have then known what I was attending for. Unsure if I will go back.

Dear blueskies

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that your experience was not as good as it should have been. It must have been embarrassing for you to have heard the nurses talking in this way, especially when you were nervous about your appointment. We can all feel nervous when we go to an appointment and we want patients to feel reassured and supported as well as having confidential information respected.

If you felt able to conatct me directly on laura.gray2@nhs.net I would be very happy to look into this in more detail. I very much hope that you do feel that you are able to return for future appointments and I would be happy to talk to you about this.
