"ENT at Guy's and St Thomas'"

About: St Thomas' Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a parent/guardian),

My son who is nearly 5 was born via emergency csection at 33 weeks at St Thomas' hospital, he was extreamly poorly and the wonderful staff at both st thomas' and the Evelina saved his life many many times, we will be forever grateful. He spent 5 and half months in the NICU/HDU.

Unfortunately recently our experience hasn't been good at all. My son is under many consultants at the Evelina and St Thomas' one of which is ENT, he had grommets and his adenoids removed two years ago, after on going issues his consultant decided in Feburary this year he needed further grommets, and at the consultation put the referral in right away.

We are at the end of June now and he is still waiting for his operation, when called we have been told to 'be patient' and 'don't expect an appointment any time soon' we were told people have been on the waiting list since last December and still haven't been seen.

My son is in constant pain, he needs antibiotics constantly to keep him well. He starts school in September with this operation looming over our heads no clue of when it will be. Correct me if I am wrong but should he not been seen within 18 weeks of referral? We are well over this.

My experience with ENT has been overall disapointing, we often wait hours in clinic over his appointment time to be seen, and more often than not our concerns are ignored or pushed aside. I would ask to go elsewhere but with my sons delicate health and Evelina knowing him best, no other hospital are willing to put him under anasetic.
